I’ve watched @anberlin grow from energetic up-and-comers to a full fledged rock staple. Vital is beautiful, stunning, and polished to a perfect sheen. (Taken with Instagram)

memphis may fire is IMPOSSIBLY talented. it’s crazy to think that a band that everyone completely gave up hope for turned it so radically around. i’ve written on them a few times, but Challenger is seriously one of the strongest new albums i’ve heard in months [and in -core, months is a LONG time, especially considering the sheer number of comparable genre albums out in the last two or three…]
honestly. matty mullins is an electrifying frontman, and his perfect screaming AND singing [trust me, he can pull it off amazingly well live] are almost a full distraction from the tight musicianship the rest of the gang puts together.
if you haven’t heard Challenger… get some.
cheers,

after marion cotillard and equal to baguettes, chunk no captain chunk is almost certainly my favorite french export. phoenix is in there too.
i saw them live at warped this year. they packed, then destroyed the ernie ball stage [tiny stage]. great on cd, amazing live. i still don’t know how such a small guy like bert can put out such a crazy powerful vocal, both singing and screaming. ruv it.
cheers,

SPREAD THE WORD/SHOUT THE TRUTH
I LITERALLY HAVE NOT BEEN THIS EXCITED ABOUT A BAND REUNITING SINCE YELLOWCARD ANNOUNCED THE BIG NEWS.
i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, confide was and even now, is, one of the most underrated bands in the genre. very, very fresh talent, and it’s great to have two of my heroes, ross kenyon and joel piper, back in the writing and on vocals and vocals/drums, respectively.
oh, this is gonna be beautiful. Recover, the newest album [2010] is still one of my favorite PHC albums.
cheers, and DONATE. cause i’m about to now.

yellowcard featuring tay jardine [of we are the in crowd] with a new video for Here I Am Alive from the new YC album, Southern Air.
for the record, i think southern air is VERY strong. like When You’re Through, it’s no Ocean Ave, but it’s still catchy, contentful, and full of sun in typical yellowcard fashion.
i thought the song was a little cheesy and overproduced when i heard it on the album yesterday, but the video makes it a lot better.
and for whatever reason, i thought tay was a little annoying, but the video is helping with that. i know she has a great voice… and she is quite cute.
video’s here:

warped tour 2012
uniondale, ny
aw yea. AW YEA.

i’ll post my other warped tour pics later. but for now, here’s one from my phone.. MEMPHIS MAY FIRE’s MATTY MULLINS tearing faces off.
i’ve seen dozens of warped tour pictures now, and time and again matty mullins is probably one of the most iconic silhouettes of the tour, with his dope combover and perpetual sunglasses.
i’d only heard a little of their stuff prior to seeing them in auburn on saturday, but…WOW. live is amazing. i spent most of today with Challenger on in the car. again, completely and utterly blown away. this may be a contender for best hard rock album of 2012 so far, and possibly even a contender for best album of the year. Handwritten’s previously almost certain crown may now be in danger.
going back to listen to challenger some more.
cheers,

ex-chiodos frontman brandon bolmer premiered his new song, Ready (Cinematic Version) as an EDM/classical/heavy rock influenced solo project.
very interesting. i loved bolmer-headed chiodos [honestly, more than i liked craig owens or even craig owens in DRUGS], and i’m glad he’s making music now that his time with chiodos is done.
really interesting. i love that he has a vision for a maskarade [aka, a masquerade] ball as a live show. i could imagine that being a spectacular event.
for now though, listen for yourself and read a little on what bolmer’s been up to since he left chiodos. http://www.altpress.com/features/entry/interview_song_premiere_maskarade_ready_cinematic_version_on_life_after_chi

This is why I love them so much.
if one day i can help bring someone hope and love through music…. at all costs, i will.
AMEN
