Notice: Function _load_textdomain_just_in_time was called incorrectly. Translation loading for the so i listened to la dispute before, a long time ago, and couldn’t really get into it. this morning i randomly tuned into it and wow… mine eyes are opened. amazing, brutal emotionality. half spoken word, half post-hardcore half screams. really, really nice, and backed with decent musicianship. cheers, UNDEROATH IS CALLING IT QUITS?! tooth and nail posted about it just now but the link is broken. i guess i’m not surprised, but i am definitely sad. best of luck to all of them. brothers in arms indeed. edit: the tooth & nail page isn’t loading for me, but read what would be there, courtesy of altpress here. i’ll post my other warped tour pics later. but for now, here’s one from my phone.. MEMPHIS MAY FIRE’s MATTY MULLINS tearing faces off. i’ve seen dozens of warped tour pictures now, and time and again matty mullins is probably one of the most iconic silhouettes of the tour, with his dope combover and perpetual sunglasses. i’d only heard a little of their stuff prior to seeing them in auburn on saturday, but…WOW. live is amazing. i spent most of today with Challenger on in the car. again, completely and utterly blown away. this may be a contender for best hard rock album of 2012 so far, and possibly even a contender for best album of the year. Handwritten’s previously almost certain crown may now be in danger. going back to listen to challenger some more. cheers, this has been one of the most captivating songs on With Roots Above And Branches Below. i can’t get over the THUMP. “I. KNOW. A. GHOST!” i’ve been talking a lot about prada lately. sorry i haven’t had time to get to any new music, especially wolves at the gate’s brand new FULL LENGTH, Captors, which i bought yesterday. i’ll get to it. cheers from california, i freaking love the devil wears prada… this is common knowledge. i’ve previously avoided the Zombie EP because i’d heard it was less melodic and more straight metal/metalcore. it’s also the least christian of the TDWP’s back catalog, and i know they wanted to just make a fun zombie CD. i’ve heard snippets, but today i finally sat down and really listened. it’s actually a surprisingly fun EP. imagining an outrageous zombie apocalypse is one of the things our generation is actually BEST at. all of these songs are going in the list of “best songs for an actual zombie apocalypse”. the top of that list, however, still goes to the brandon bolmer-headed chiodos track, Those Who Slay Together Stay Together. that is a freaking killer [literally] song. video for that here: imagine listening to these songs while playing zombie run. imagine…… cheers, and happy hunting… edit: this picture cracks me up. edit edit: i seriously can’t help but grin at jeremy depoyster’s back hauling a gun. hilarious i’m gonna say this and i need it to be clear that i don’t mean this to be a racial slur at all. i just saw a comment on the new pierce the veil video Bulls In The Bronx that PTV is starting to sound like it could be called “Mexicore”. this has absolutely been my favorite aspect of PTV. perfectly balanced with brutal lyrics, airtight musicianship, and vic fuentes’ amazing boy band voice are the constant and consistently strong nods to vic and brother mike fuentes’ hispanic heritage. i love it. i know their dad is a classical guitarist, and having both his sons pay homage to that and to their cultural background must be powerful. here’s the new vid. i don’t think it’s as good as King For A Day, but that song is so strong it’s honestly going to be hard to top. i already preordered the album. you should do the same. …… edit: if you’re listening to the leaked version on youtube, fine, it’s already been done. but at least BUY the album. BUY IT. cheers, somebody has got to appreciate my phone background. i know the devil wears prada is a band that strives to not be in the way of their message, but mikey hranica is definitely someone i truly look up to. from the way he writes and sings to the way he and the rest of the prada boys are certain, confident, even, in what they believe in every way they believe it, they are some real heroes of mine. they also write sick music. it is my firm belief that for most genres, especially those dependent on lyrics, christians should be at the forefront of the respective style. it’s pretty true for metal, post-hardcore, screamo, rock, and pop rock/pop punk. fellas like prada aren’t the only ones. demon hunter, underoath, august burns red, switchfoot, and relientk are all bands that are almost undeniably at the front lines of their genres. these are truly talented brothers with truly divine gifts. maybe one day i’ll join the ranks. i say this all the time. kids need more role models. we need more role models. i need more role models. cheers, edit: this smile he’s cheesin out with is definitely my signature smile. and i’m missing part of the same tooth. coincidence?mthemes domain was triggered too early. just so it’s clear, wolves at the gate will probably be my breakout heavy band of 2011 AND 2012. there’s very little like what they’re doing at the caliber they’re doing it. this video is beautiful.
cheers.

of mice & men’s new track from the upcoming 2-disc The Flood Reissue is below.
i’m a little torn about austin carlile. i can’t deny that he’s a great screamer, and he’s decidedly magnetic. people are drawn to him like they are craig owens… but carlile has a bit of baggage. he’s been kicked out of a few bands, and he just has too many questionable rumors going for him for me to really enjoy his work. i dunno. i don’t have a solid opinion on him i guess.
i first heard carlile at creation NW two years ago, where one of the event booths was cranking attack attack. i walked past the booth with my friends, then backtracked because the 10 seconds of stick stickly was so catchy i had to ask. but that was a long time ago.
but anyways. the video is here. the song is pretty solid.

i love lights, and i love blessthefall. and i love that lights and beau bokan have such a great thing going. i pray that they have an amazing marriage and life together.
beau, frontman for christian core up-and-comer blessthefall, posted this beautiful blog on heartsupport today. i just want to share it with you. forgiveness is an insanely powerful thing, but it’s hard to come to terms with people who hurt you, letting go of what’s happened, and moving on in love.
all of us have stories of people hurting us. the choice we make, to forgive or to hold on to that pain, will seriously, honestly, affect the way your life plays out.
let it go.
the blog is here.
it’s so good that we have real role models to look up to, ones who stand up for their faith and live it out at home and on the road. we need more role models.
